Alabama Dems Caught in a Blind Shootout
Fri Aug 25, 2006 at 09:08:22 AM PDT
The Birmingham News reports this morning:
A Democratic Party committee disqualified an openly gay candidate for the Alabama Legislature and the woman she defeated because both violated a rule that no other candidate has obeyed since 1988.
After reading the headline, my first impression was that this move was motivated as an anti-gay decision, but the facts seem to point toward in-fighting and egos, and what has caused the Democrats to become less than significant in State politics since the early eighties.
The RNC wants my opinion!

Imagine my surprise this morning when I found a letter addresed to me from the RNC! I have been a registered Dem since the year that I turned 18 (1975)and have hated everything that republicans stand for since the beginning of the Nixon years.
I was shocked to receive this letter, then remembered that I had registered on the RNC website two years ago so that I could access their talking points (Its always good to know your enemy). I only visited the site one time as I knew that I couldn't take any more.
Anyway, according to the letter that I recieved today, I am the one randomly selected member to represent my entire district with my answers to a questionnaire. Below the fold you will find the questions....
Kossack got Help Update
Sat Jul 30, 2005 at 05:28:41 AM PDT
Thursday night at 10:30 pm I received a phone call from Lizzie's mother, Berta, who informed me that Lizzie had been found and is safe. She is currently staying at her stepfather's house in San Francisco. This evening I received an email from a police officer from San Rafael with whom I have been communicating regarding the case:
Baloney for Sale!
Thu Jul 14, 2005 at 09:48:58 AM PDT
This is my first diary but this story deserves a round. Over the past four years I have been shocked by the complacency with which the general public seemingly accepts these "official stories". I am referring to Kevin Cullen's article in the Boston Globe today entitled Bombing Suspects' identities shock Leeds.
The intersting twist is the explanation given at the end of the articles as to why multiple id's were found on some of the alleged perpetrators:
"Surrounded by reporters yesterday, Shehzad Tanweer's uncle, Bashir Ahmed, had the look of a defeated man. He said the family would probably have to sell their businesses and move.
Police are still trying to figure out why some of the bombers appeared to be carrying pieces of identification not just of themselves but of at least some of their three accomplices. But in Beeston, some think they know why.
''They wanted to be known, man," said Shabaz. ''And we'll always know their names, won't we? For all the wrong reasons."
